About Stage Curtain Muslins

Cotton muslin (also known as Calico) is an economical, versatile, finely woven cotton fabric that is used extensively as stage curtains in photography, cinema and theatre for cycloramas, backdrops and costume mock-ups. It is preferred as the background fabric for sets or backdrops as it is easily painted, can take on a translucent quality, readily accepts dyes and shrinks when dampened.
